Thursday 27th December 2018

Looking for giggle and a night of razor-sharp wit. Treat yourself to a hilarious evening of top comedy and join us for a night of Live Stand Up Comedy in conjunction with Funhouse Comedy.

Line up for December's Comedy Club:

Andy Askins

Andy Askins is a diminutive figure who exudes an air of vulnerability as he steps up to the microphone armed with a guitar and a cheeky grin. It’s an overwhelmingly misleading demeanour which serves to heighten the impact of the killer lines that he delivers.

Following a successful debut in 2014, Andy was invited back to the prestigious Altitude Comedy Festival in Austria the following year, where he once again tore the roof off. He has previously had the honour of working with Michael McIntyre, Lee Evans, Jason Manford, Alan Carr, Jimmy Carr, Micky Flanagan, Harry Hill, Rhod Gilbert, Bill Bailey and Jack Dee, to name a few stand-up luminaries. Andy performed his solo show “The Man With No Name” at the prestigious Edinburgh Festival for the first time in 2016 to rave reviews.

On TV screens, Andy was recently invited to appear on The John Bishop Show, performing a storming set at the Hackney Empire, alongside a stellar line-up from the worlds of comedy and music. The show transmitted in a primetime Saturday night slot on BBC One. Having impressed audiences and executives alike, Andy has then invited back to perform on this year’s John Bishop Christmas Show (the only Artiste to be invited back from the series). The festive edition of the show also aired on BBC One. Andy has also recorded a set for the latest series of Comedy Central’s The Comedy Store, and has performed on two series of The World Stands Up, also for Comedy Central.

Tom Glover

On the UK comedy circuit since 2010 Tom has avoided the bright lights of TV panel shows in favour of the best and worst (in fact, any) clubs, tents, pubs, theatres and fields that Britain has to offer.

Following in the footsteps of the westcountry’s finest comedy talent, Tom has been growing in the dark depths of the south west where he is a regular MC and headliner for those rooms no-one else can afford to drive to.

Gigging to everyone from students to the ladies of the WI this plucky 27-year-old has developed a knack of winning over any crowd with his tales of life on the outside and his observations on the minutiae of the everyday. And if that’s not your thing he also does funny accents and pulls silly faces.

In all honesty he is “going to be a comedy monster”(Matt Price, Comic) and “deserves to go a long way”(Steve Hall, We Are Klang) for his “wickedly funny, beautifully timed observations”(View From Newspapers).

Morgan Rees

Morgan Rees is a rising star of the UK circuit. This softly spoken Welsh comedian boasts a densely packed arsenal of impressive one-liners and hilarious short stories. He has appeared on BBC Radio 4 in the prestigious finals of the BBC New Comedy Award. He was also a runner-up in So You Think You’re Funny 2017, and a finalist in Chortle Student Comedy Award.

NEW COMPERE - Ignacio Lopez

Ignacio Lopez has been wowing audiences internationally with his individual style and high gag-rate since 2010. A frequent headliner and MC in top comedy clubs all over the UK, Ignacio also performs regularly at corporate functions, private shows, military gigs, sports dinners, art centres and festivals.

In 2015 Ignacio sold out solo festival performances in Edinburgh, Brighton, Reading, Cardiff and Neath.

In 2016 Ignacio produced and hosted a comedy series for Made Television called ‘Comedy Sheep Stand-Up’, which was the first show to be broadcast across the UK network in a primetime weekend slot.
