Lawrence’s act exploits his range of voices, includes references to his ginger hair and songs performed on an acoustic guitar. His university debut led on to the Edinburgh fringe, where he was runner up in the 2003 So You Think You’re Funny competition. Subsequent wins of the Amused Moose Starsearch, York Comedy Festival New Act of the Year Competition and the BBC’s New Act of the Year Competition in 2004 confirmed him as an emerging talent on the UK comedy scene.
He presented his first hour-long comedy show at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival Fringe entitled How to Butcher your Loved Ones. It was nominated for the if.comeddie award (as it was known for that year only) for Best Newcomer. He has returned to the Fringe every year since then and become an established name on the circuit and on television, recently appearing on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Dave’s One Night Stand and Live at the Apollo.
‘…a hard act to follow’ – Chortle
Hello, and welcome to my life. I’ve spent most of it performing as an actor, stand-up comedian, and clown. Not a clown with make-up and a red nose. A clown in the Archetype of the well-meaning innocent. A tradition kept alive by Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Tommy Cooper, Steve Martin, Eric Morecambe, Pee Wee Herman, Rik Mayall, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Harry Hill.
I write jokes, sketches, and my first novel ‘The Sex Life of a Comedian’ is on sale now. The second novel is two thirds written. I’d like to write more, but I’m often on the road doing stand-up comedy, or spending time with my very young daughters.
My absurd style of stand-up comedy inspired Ben Elton to write a part especially for me in the feature film 'Maybe Baby', which was on general release around the world, including America. I’ve done two other feature films, and two sitcoms.
Jon began standup comedy in 2010, with his first performance at Birmingham's Highlight Comedy Club. Two successful Edinburgh shows later, and 5 years working the UK comedy circuit, Jon is now regularly found at the biggest and best comedy clubs across the UK including The Glee Club, The Comedy Store and Jongleurs, both as an act and a compere.
His 2015 Daves Leicester Comedy Festival show, Jon Pearson: Tall Order, sold out at Melton Theatre within 2 weeks of the tickets going on sale.
Jon's laid back storytelling has audiences hanging on his every word. With tales based around his own life experiences, his anecdotes are relatable and certain to have people in hysterics.
Resident Compere - Ignacio Lopez
Ignacio Lopez has been wowing audiences internationally with his individual style and high gag-rate since 2010. A frequent headliner and MC in top comedy clubs all over the UK, Ignacio also performs regularly at corporate functions, private shows, military gigs, sports dinners, art centres and festivals.
In 2015 Ignacio sold out solo festival performances in Edinburgh, Brighton, Reading, Cardiff and Neath.
In 2016 Ignacio produced and hosted a comedy series for Made Television called ‘Comedy Sheep Stand-Up’, which was the first show to be broadcast across the UK network in a primetime weekend slot.
