A chance discovery by a gamekeeper in 1864 unearthed the existence of Chedworth Roman Villa, one of Britain's largest remaining Roman villas, dating back to the 4th Century, and it is really worth a visit to see the quite beautiful mosaics and extensive bath houses.  Part of the National Trust since 1924. Café and shop on site. Wheelchair users may find it tricky but not impossible. Assistance dogs only on site but dogs on leads permissible in outside seating behind café.
